Festival International des Arts de Bordeaux Métropole The Festival International des Arts de Bordeaux Métropole (FAB) in Bordeaux, France offers a multifaceted dive into creativity with an event that defines itself as multidisciplinary, humanistic, internationally and completely cross-sectional.

The great majority of festivals and initiatives linked to the creative world, from art to architecture, from music to films makes us think there's a great need for beauty. These events become catalysers for new development because art - like architecture - often turns out to be a powerful driver of sociocultural change.
The Festival International des Arts de Bordeaux Métropole (FAB) began in 2016 as a fusion of two local festivals - Novart (from 2002) and the Des souris, des hommes festival (from 2008), now together to target a broader public by addressing increasingly vast themes.
There are three major events of the 2017 edition taking place in the metropolitan region of Bordeaux, which in addition to the city itself also includes another 26 municipalities. It starts with the environmentalist-style installation by the renowned Spanish collective, Luzinterruptus (link) called “The Plastic in which we live”, a really hot topic. On the other hand, the Far West show by Opéra Pagai takes us to the outer edges of Saint-Médard-en-Jalles. A miniature, “life-sized” version of an epic odyssey to discover places close to the city. A true challenge, not to be underestimated and requiring walking shoes, flashlight and waterproof jacket. While the spectacular installation of fire in Bassins à Flot by Carabosse Company has something magical and ancestral about it: this group has been igniting fantastic fire creations for more than 20 years. In Bordeaux, they will light up the docks with huge, glowing metal structures.
These are just some of the highlights that stand out amongst the many daily events covering the various disciplines to offer a complete cultural selection. The focal point is Hangar27 – FABQG the ephemeral space to celebrate, where from Thursday to Saturday, 5 to 21 October a constantly evolving, free programme will be aired.
